- “Health” is an arbitrary measure that is personal and private.
- There is no moral obligation to be “healthy”.
- Fat bodies are not public property to be managed/controlled.
- Even “unhealthy” people deserve to live their lives in peace and dignity.
- Fatness is not an addiction,…
I can agree to this to a degree but not fully. I do not like the term healthy. The only healthy I can agree with is living a lifestyle consisting of sufficient exercise, natural and biologically sound food choices, and a reasonable sleep cycle. I respect those who choose to take care of themselves to an optimum level. I am not one of those people, and often abuse my body as much as possible. On the third point I do agree people should be left alone in all their devices to an extent. But there is a point where we go from alright to dangerous. There are people out and about who do need a bit of help getting back within a safe weight and I don’t think that should be an issue. Live your life within a reasonably safe limit. Living a very unhealthy lifestyle myself I would love to be left alone. Having some fool explain to me the down side of drinking heavily, and how smoking pounds of pot in a month will kill you faster makes my blood boil. Leave me the fuck alone.
Also I prefer the term Big Ole Teddy Bear rather than fat.
Also me on the set of my new cooking show.
Excuse me… read number 10 again, then write it 100 times, and STFU.
I spent literally 20 minutes typing a decent response, then I remember. This person didn’t have the decency to be respectful why should I?
Long story short, if you scarf down 10 times as much food as your body actually needs, you will put on fat cells. This is a healthy body storing energy in case of times of need. Too much of this can overwhelm the muscle, slow the body down, and eventually raise the risks of life threatening disease. Still science folks. Now somewhere in here I’m assuming that someone will mention aesthetics. For those unaware, in our society it is generally accepted that underweight females and superficially augmented muscles in males. Arranged in a certain format is found to be appealing. This is where science and the media’s image separate. Instinctively males are generally more attracted to females with pronounced features, and a certain shape. Mostly due to our instinctual need to survive, and give our seed the best chance for survival. Females will often gravitate towards physically fit men, because they will provide the other half of the genetic cocktail. And that half will stand a better chance from survival from, good genetic stock.
The media would have us believe something different, and most of us are already familiar with the worlds misconception of attractiveness and we don’t need any help there.
Why did we go off in such a tangent?
To prove a point.
If I weigh 500 pounds, and you way 200. And we are both 5 foot 10 and male.
I still stand a stronger chance of being afflicted with a life threatening disease than you. And no amount of public image, in your face attitude, or brutish behavior will change that. And the moment people get their fucking heads out of their asses, is the moment we can get help to those who need it and respect the wishes of the ones who don’t want it.
How’s this? Go fuck yourself.
Seriously, you think you’re being “respectful” with your bullshit? You think you’re actually doing anything that is helping ANYONE ANYWHERE??
No. You’re just being a judgemental shit-stain. And then you expect those of us you deem as unworthy to smile and be polite and sweet in response. It’s time for you to sit the fuck down, shut the fuck up and mind your own fucking business about bodies that do not belong to you.
Brilliant! An example of Fat Hate fuckery this perfect hasn’t crossed my dash in quite some time. Let’s see; we have the condescending attitude that so often accompanies people who believe they need to explain harsh truth to children. The smiling and finger waggling Rule Maker shows up to let us know it’s OK to go only this far. But NO-NO-NO, mustn’t go ANY further (Silly Child). And, of course, we also get the Learned Adult who knows, SO MUCH BETTER , what’s good for us than WE do (because, yah know, what’s good for HIM is good for EVERYBODY) and must needs reminds us to ‘live safely’ (According to his ‘Good for him’ edicts). All while completely ignoring the MOST IMPORTANT POINT OF THE MESSAGE (Or, perhaps, believing that it doesn’t apply to HIM), to wit-
10 . If it’s not your body, it’s not your business!
I don’t know? Does that say to you ‘It’s OK to lecture me about what you find unacceptable / excessive, I don’t mind.’? ‘Cause that’s not what it says to me.
Oh! And, of course, once he’s been sent back to class in a far more tactful and patient fashion than I might have managed, then we get Real Deal Fat Shame. Full force Calories in / out folk lore, The Aesthetics Rational Dismissal, and even Evo-Scienterrific Theoryocity. Obviously continuing in the patient-adult-explaining-to-small-children theme while wanting to know why people who have heard ALL of this SHIT SO MANY TIMES and FOR SO LONG, (possibly throughout the period in which he was learning bowel control through the efficacy of pull-up diapers) that it’s not even worth discussing, would be so unreasonable as to not engage him civilly.
Well, there can be only one response to this kind question-
