Gazillions of dollars and decades of research haven’t turned up a safe, reliable method for permanent weight loss. With the methods we have right now, trying to lose weight is usually counterproductive at best and lethal at worst, with a whole continuum of yucky outcomes in between — and only a tiny handful of positive outcomes, ever. That is just not fucking good enough. If a given drug only worked for less than 10% of people who took it, and in the other 90+% it A) ultimately did the opposite of what it was supposed to do, B) caused long-term damage to people’s organs, and C) oh yeah, killed people, would that drug still be on the market? Fuck no. So why, given the astonishing failure rates and side effects of the only known weight loss methods today, do doctors keep prescribing weight loss as a goddamned cure-all for fat people?

If weight loss is so, gaht damn’d, simple why hasn’t Big Pharma, EVER, been able to produce a weightless drug that was more than 8% effective? EVER. STILL can’t. And with those, less than 8% effective, drugs? All kinds of nasty / damaging / leathal side effects. Nope, The ONLY thing more effective is intestinal bonsai and it’s, much more prevelent than most folks would have you believe, attendant risks (Which include death / life long complications). Of course, bariatric Surgeons want everyone to see rainbows & unicorns because; Money. But, for me, the wild eyed ‘Join Us’ attitude of too many paients all to often reminds me of Night of the Body Snatchers. ‘No koolaid for me, thanks. I SAID thank you! BACKDAFUKUP, Yo!!’ (+Having already LOST 2 friends to that bullshit? Really; Don’t step to me with this. Really). Let us not forget the average, 30% or less of total bodyweight, losses experianced by most WLS patients and the high possibility of regain (Not quite the 5% sucess ratio of restriction dieting but, like, is anybody else seeing a pattern here?) All THIS bullshit and you want me to believe there actually IS some kind of unnamed / unrealistic crisis in the vaguely set / undiefined future relating to obesity? Or that Medical Science on THIS particular subject is actually unbiased / knows what, the fuck, it’s talking about? Yeah. I like to think I know about and love science enough to know when it might be onto somthing real or when it’s just guessing.
